A Fran Palermót 2011 végén alapította Henri Gonzo énekes-gitáros-frontember Budapesten. A zenekar stílusa sok különféle műfajt érint az indie-től a rock and rollon át az afropopig, mindez az ütősökkel, fúvósokkal és billentyűssel megdobott mediterrán hangulattal fűszerezve. Egyedi, összetett hangzásviláguk talán annak is köszönhető, hogy négy nemzet – magyar, spanyol, kubai, görög – gyermekei hozták magukkal és gyúrták egybe zenei kultúrájukat. Mostanra az együttes meghatározó budapesti koncertzenekarrá nőtte ki magát, és hűséges rajongótábort tudhatnak maguk körül.
Első stúdiófelvételükkel, az Arizonával 2011 végén jelentkeztek, melynek köszönhetően Takács Zoltán „Jappán” is felfigyelt a zenekarra. Soron következő Museum of Clouds (2012) és Natural Cash (2013) című kislemezeiken producerként segítette a csapat munkáját. 2013-ban a zenekar frontembere, Henri Gonzo Angliába költözött, így a csapat egy másfél éves alkotói szünetet tartott. Ezalatt az időszak alatt csak alkalmi fellépéseik voltak, majd 2014 őszétől az újbóli folyamatos koncertezés mellett megjelentették Sun in Splendour című harmadik kislemezüket is. A trópusi jungle-rock hangulatú EP a Fran Palermo 2015 májusában érkezett cím nélküli első nagylemezének előfutára volt, melyet teltház előtt mutattak be az A38-on. Azóta a zenekar megfordult az összes jelentősebb hazai fesztiválon, szerepeltek az Index dalversenyének döntőjében, illetve a Nagy-Szín-Pad tehetségmutatóban a csapat kapta a legmagasabb zsűri szavazatot. A Fran Palermot 2016-ban az év felfedezettjének választották a Petőfi Zenei Díjátadón, majd egy évvel később ugyanitt már a ‘Legjobb Zenekar’ kategóriájában jelölték őket.

Alig egy évvel debütáló nagylemezük után, 2016 májusában jelent meg Razzle Dazzle című albumuk, az eddiginél is sokszínűbb, változatosabb, műfajokon átívelő dalokkal, és helyet kapott szinte az összes év végi albumlistán a magyar médiában. De 2017 is tartogatott újat a rajongók számára, hisz ősszel megjelent a banda új kiadványa, a Bonerider, melyen a négy angol dal mellett helyet kapott egy régi klasszikus is – a Holdvilágos, a zenekar rég várt első magyar dala. A legnagyobb fesztiválok, mint a Sziget Fesztivál vagy a Volt Fesztivál visszatérő vendégei, de felléptek a Telekom Electronic Beats Festivalon, a 2016-os Budapest Showcase Hubon (BUSH), a 2017-es Holland Eurosonic Noorderslag showcase-n illetve olyan művészeti központokban, mint a MÜPA vagy a Trafó. Nemrég pedig a régió egyik legnevesebb showcase-ére, a Ljubljanai MENT-re is meghívták a zenekart. A Fran Palermo célja, hogy Magyarországi sikerei után Európa más országaiban is megmutathassák zenéjüket.

Fran Palermo was formed by the singer-songwriter Henri Gonzo in late 2011 in Budapest, Hungary. The band’s music and style are characterized by different genres, mostly by indie, rock and roll, afro pop and even by mediterranean vibes. The unique and original soundscape requires a bigger band on the stage. The speciality of the band comes not just from mixing different instruments, but from the diverse origin of the members. They have a vivid inherited cultural background such as Cuban, Spanish, Greek and Hungarian. By now Fran Palermo has become one of Budapest’s main concert bands, owning numerous loyal fans.

The band released their first EP called ‘Arizona’ at the end of 2011. Their next records, both EPs, are called Museum of Clouds (2012) and Natural Cash (2013). In 2013, Henri Gonzo moved to England for one and a half years, thus during this period the band only gave occasional concerts. After the ‘gap-year’ and a dynamic come back, the band released a new EP called Sun in Splendour, as the herald of the first full length album. In 2015, the first Self Titled album brought a new, tropical jungle-rock sound to the Hungarian music scene. The real recognition and popularity followed the release. Ever since than the band performed at each famous Hungarian music festival and was also finalist in a prestigious song competition. After their performance in the talent show called Nagy-Szín-Pad, where they received the highest votes from the jury, Fran Palermo was chosen the “Discovery of the Year” at Petőfi Music Awards and a year later already nominated as the “Best Hungarian Act”.

Only a year after their debut album, in May 2016 they released Razzle Dazzle, which is the band’s most vivid, colorful and diverse album yet and finished on every Hungarian album top list of the year. In 2017 the group released their latest EP called Bonerider which’s debut concert took place at the Big Hall of Budapest’s Akvárium club in front of a 1000+ audience. The album was later claimed as one of Hungary’s best releases of the year. Fran Palermo is a returning guest to each great festival, such as Sziget Festival, VOLT Festival, but they also performed at Telekom Electronic Beast Festival, Budapest Showcase Hub and at the Dutch Eurosonic Norderslag Showcase 2017 in Groningen. Lately the band was as well selected to perform at one of the biggest showcase festivals of the region to MENT Ljubljana. After touring around Hungary, the band desires to play on European stages.
